BERMUDA — November 1, 2026

Music has a remarkable ability to cross cultural boundaries, communicate emotion, and bring people together. For internationally experienced saxophonist, recording artist, and music educator Courtney L. Fadlin, these qualities are at the heart of his musical journey and the inspiration behind The Voice of the Saxophone, presented as part of the Spread Love Concert Series.

Scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the T. N. Tatem Auditorium in Bermuda, the concert brings together classical repertoire, gospel music, and contemporary selections for an evening designed to uplift audiences while celebrating musical artistry and community.

More than a showcase of exceptional musicianship, the event reflects Fadlin's commitment to using music as a vehicle for inspiration, education, and meaningful human connection.

Courtney L. Fadlin: A Musical Journey Beyond Borders

Courtney L. Fadlin has built an extensive career as a saxophonist, recording artist, educator, and musical leader, with experience spanning the Caribbean, Bermuda, the United States, and international stages.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Professional Music, Fadlin also holds a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from California Baptist University and a postgraduate diploma in arts education from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Jamaica.

Throughout his career, Fadlin has served as a music educator, woodwind lecturer, department head, and band and orchestra director, contributing to the development of musicians across different educational and cultural environments.

His international performance experience includes appearances in South Africa, Dubai, the United Kingdom, Germany, Luxembourg, Cuba, Nigeria, and throughout the Caribbean.

Along the way, he has shared musical platforms with distinguished performers including Mella Moore, Take 6, Louie Bellson, Kim Burrell, Donnie McClurkin, and the Aeolians.

With nine albums to his credit, Fadlin continues to explore music as a means of artistic expression, cultural connection, and inspiration.

The Spread Love Concert Series represents an extension of that philosophy, bringing together performers and audiences around music that speaks to both artistic excellence and the human spirit.

An Evening of Classical and Inspirational Music

The concert programme demonstrates the versatility of the saxophone and its ability to communicate across musical traditions.

Fadlin's featured selections include works by André Chailleux, Eugène Bozza, George Frideric Handel, Carl Nielsen, Jindřich Feld, and Astor Piazzolla. The repertoire moves between classical sophistication, expressive melodic writing, and contemporary musical influences.

A particularly personal selection is Caribbean Girl (Caren), composed by Courtney L. Fadlin, Sr., adding a distinctive Caribbean connection to the evening.

The programme also includes the seasonal favorite This Christmas, associated with Donny Hathaway and Nadine McKinnor. Together, these selections offer audiences an opportunity to experience the saxophone beyond its familiar associations with jazz, highlighting its expressive capabilities in classical and inspirational settings.

A Celebration of Bermuda's Musical Talent

Joining Fadlin are accomplished guest performers whose diverse backgrounds contribute to the evening's musical experience.

Conrad Roach — Trumpet

Conrad Roach is a versatile Bermuda-based musician, educator, and music director whose involvement in the island's music community dates back to 1997. Currently serving as Lead Teacher of Music at Warwick Academy and Minister of Music at Vernon Temple AME Church, Roach has devoted decades to performance, education, and community engagement.

A graduate of Atlantic Union College, he serves as principal trumpet of the Bermuda Philharmonic Orchestra and lead trumpet for the Wall St Band. His performance experience includes sharing stages with legendary groups such as The O'Jays and The Temptations. The Wall St Band has also opened for internationally recognized performers including Babyface, Gladys Knight, and John Legend. With performance experience throughout the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean, Roach brings a wealth of musical knowledge and artistry to The Voice of the Saxophone. His featured selections include Alexander Goedicke's Concert Étude, Op. 49 and the traditional spiritual Motherless Child.

Dr. Caren Griffith-Fadlin — Guest Vocalist

Dr. Caren Griffith-Fadlin brings a distinctive combination of professional accomplishment, faith, and musical expression to the concert. A medical doctor and public health professional, she currently serves as a physician at Bermuda Alzheimer's & Memory Services (BEAMS).

Her academic background includes medical training at the University of the West Indies and a Master of Public Health from the University of Liverpool. Beyond her medical profession, Griffith-Fadlin has a deep passion for music and ministry. She serves on the praise teams at Restoration Ministries, where she expresses her faith through singing and worship. Her performance of People Need the Lord adds a powerful inspirational dimension to the evening.

SHEMA — Gospel Vocal Ensemble

Established in 2014, SHEMA is a six-member female gospel group united by faith and a shared commitment to spreading the Christian message through song. Emerging from Restoration Ministries, the ensemble combines expressive harmonies with a ministry-centered approach to performance. Their musical mission extends beyond entertainment, seeking to encourage audiences through messages of faith, hope, obedience, and spiritual commitment. For this concert, SHEMA will perform What a Friend We Have in Jesus, How Much Love, and Tribute to the King, providing a gospel complement to the evening's classical and instrumental performances.

Raymond George — Accompanist

Accompanying the performers is Raymond George, a Toronto-born pianist, music educator, and accomplished musical director. George earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Toronto, where his musical development included piano studies with William Aide and Larysa Kuzmenko, along with choral studies under Brainerd Blyden-Taylor. His achievements include receiving the Lloyd Bradshaw Prize and an Ontario Service Award recognizing excellence in choral music and music direction within community programmes. George's diverse musical background spans jazz, gospel, rock, choral music, and piano performance.

In 2009, he toured Canada with the Sean Jones Band for WIDEawake Entertainment. He also served as Director of Music for the Toronto Children's Concert Choir, which toured England in 2007, and produced its Covenant Award-winning recording, Our Message. Before relocating to Bermuda, George served as Director of Music for the Christ Church B.M.E. Conference in Toronto. Today, he continues to share his experience and expertise as a piano teacher at The Bermuda School of Music.

Music With a Purpose: Supporting the Next Generation

An important element of The Voice of the Saxophone is its commitment to supporting music education and community development. A portion of the concert's proceeds will be contributed to the Bermuda Institute Endowment Fund, reinforcing the belief that music education plays a valuable role in developing creativity, discipline, confidence, and personal achievement.

For Fadlin, the connection between musical performance and education is especially meaningful. Having spent much of his career teaching and mentoring musicians, he understands the importance of creating opportunities for young people to discover and develop their talents.

The concert's charitable component extends the evening's impact beyond the stage, connecting artistic expression with a lasting investment in education.

Community Partners Supporting the Arts

The event also recognizes the contributions of local businesses and organizations whose support helps make community-centered cultural programming possible. Sponsors include BEAMS Clinic, Bermuda Alzheimer's & Memory Services; The Pulmonology Specialists, providing specialist respiratory care by referral only; and C & N Cleaners, offering professional commercial and residential cleaning services. Their involvement demonstrates the important relationship between local businesses, cultural initiatives, and community development.

Spreading Love Through Music

At its core, The Voice of the Saxophone represents more than a single concert performance.

It is an expression of the belief that music can connect people from different backgrounds, encourage reflection, strengthen communities, and inspire future generations.

By bringing together classical repertoire, Caribbean musical expression, gospel traditions, and accomplished performers, Courtney L. Fadlin continues to demonstrate the possibilities that emerge when artistry and purpose share the same stage. For audiences in Bermuda, the evening promises a celebration of musical excellence with a message that extends far beyond the final note. The Voice of the Saxophone is not simply about hearing the instrument. It is about experiencing the message behind the music.
