Songwriter and Producer, Coyle Girelli announces his upcoming album, "Funland."
Coyle Girelli shares the second single and video, “From 7th Street with Love,” written as an ode to his adopted hometown, New York City. “This is my love song to New York City,” said Girelli. “I wrote it during the depths of the COVID lockdown while out of the city, in the woods in Vermont. I was missing the city, especially during her time of trauma. Her madness, her noise, her energy, her smells and sounds. The people. The subway. The bars and restaurants. The theater, the museums. The opera house. My beautiful Central Park. She was hurting and I wasn’t there to hold her and tell her that I love her. New York has given me so, so much and continues to do so every day. She is my muse. It was love at first sight and always will be.” Watch/Share Via YouTube Now.
Girelli wrote and solely produced the collection of songs that became the album Funland at the start of the pandemic as an escape from reality during that uncertain period. In discussing the album, Girelli says, “‘Funland’ was a concept I had been kicking around for a month or so before I started writing the album during lockdown. A nighttime place of escape, debauchery, vice and pleasure. When the pandemic hit New York I headed to the woods of Vermont where I holed up for several months and where this album was written. In those moments, the album’s concept took on a whole new meaning. I was missing New York, my city. The New York City in my head that I was missing mixed with this mythical place that I had created in my mind became ‘Funland'.”
