Veteran Trinidad and Tobago recording artist Roger George has released his latest soca single, “Karnival,” signaling an early start to the musical build-up toward Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2026. The release marks the newest addition to the Wuk Up Riddim Project, produced by Samuel Archer.
“Karnival” follows two previously released singles from Volume Two of the Wuk Up Riddim Project—“Fumble” by Yolanda and “No Stupid Man” by Orin Richards. Both songs were released in time for Tobago Carnival 2025, while Roger George’s new single now leads the transition into the Trinidad Carnival season. Together, the releases continue to expand the Wuk Up franchise, which focuses on contemporary soca grounded in traditional Carnival rhythms.
The song features mid-tempo production and showcases Roger George’s strong and seasoned vocal performance. Designed for road play and fete environments, “Karnival” reflects the cultural spirit of Carnival while appealing to local and international soca audiences.
Roger George is widely regarded as one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most accomplished vocalists. He is a three-time Junior Calypso Monarch (1988, 1990, 1991) and later achieved major success within the steelband movement. His compositions led Republic Bank Exodus Steel Orchestra to victories at the 2001 National Panorama, the 2002 Pan Kaiso Competition, and the Best Beating Steelband Award. George has also performed as a front-line singer with Machel Montano’s Xtatik, recorded the hit “Mo’ Luv” in 2002, and worked with Byron Lee and the Dragonaires. His career has included performances throughout the Caribbean, North America, and internationally.
The Wuk Up Riddim Project was founded by producer, arranger, and composer Samuel Archer for Tobago Carnival 2024. The project was created to support both Trinidad and Tobago Carnival seasons through carefully produced soca releases. Archer’s career spans more than three decades, beginning in 1989. Based in the United States, he is known for his work as a composer, arranger, producer, recording engineer, filmmaker, and author. He has also taught music and science at secondary levels in Tobago and the U.S., holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Business from Full Sail University, the founder of Samsdigital.net and Muzilog and primary host of the Muzilog Magazine Podcast.
“Karnival” was produced and arranged by Samuel Archer, with Roger George on lead vocals and lyrics. The single was recorded by Jessica Kearny, mixed by Romano “OneDread” deSouza, and mastered by Pierre “P-MiXX” Salandy. “Karnival” is now available on all major digital and streaming platforms as part of the continuing Wuk Up Riddim Project.
