London-based, Australian-born producer, songwriter, and DJ HAAi (aka Teneil Throssell) edges closer to the release of her second studio album, HUMANiSE, with the unveiling of a new track, “Stitches”.
Throssell describes the song as “a naive love letter to yourself, your lover, and your friends — the people who evoke the strongest feelings in you and make you feel the most human.”
Alongside the single, HAAi has announced an exclusive NYC event at The Lot Radio this Wednesday, September 10, from 7:00–9:00 PM EST. The evening will feature a pre-release screening of HUMANiSE by HAAi — a New Visions Original production that brings the conceptual world of her new album to life through a live performance filmed inside London’s Drumsheds.
The immersive piece showcases collaborators including Jon Hopkins, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Obi Franky, KAM-BU, Trans Voices, and Kaiden Ford, blending striking visuals with HAAi’s boundary-pushing sound in a cinematic live performance. The event is free and open to the public at 17 Nassau Ave., Brooklyn, NY.
“Stitches” follows her dancefloor-driven single “Hey!”, as well as recent tracks “Satellite” (feat. Jon Hopkins, Obi Franky, ILĀ & Trans Voices) and “Can’t Stand To Lose” — both A-listed by BBC Radio 6 Music — plus her collaboration with KAM-BU, “Shapeshift.”
After a packed summer with sets at Coachella, Movement, and Glastonbury (including her standout B2B with Romy, broadcast on BBC Radio 1 and premiering Romy’s remix of “Stitches”), HAAi shows no sign of slowing down. This autumn she plays Portola Festival and Making Time Festival in the US, alongside UK in-store signings and performances at Brighton’s Resident and Rough Trade in both Bristol and London.
Due October 10, 2025, via Mute, HUMANiSE marks a bold evolution from her acclaimed debut. Available on limited edition clear double gatefold vinyl and eco-packaged CD, the record is available to pre-order here.
Exploring what it means to be human in an increasingly digital world, the album moves between dystopian machine-led textures and euphoric emotional landscapes. “Throughout the album, I kept thinking about a machine with a human heart,” says HAAi. Vocals — often delicate, always intimate — take a central role, adding vulnerability and depth to her kinetic productions.
Thematically, the album is also about unity and community. HAAi collaborates with longtime friends Jon Hopkins, Alexis Taylor, Obi Franky, KAM-BU, Kaiden Ford, and poet James Massiah (on “All That Falls Apart”), as well as TRANS VOICES (led by ILĀ) and a gospel choir directed by Wendi Rose. For HAAi, this inclusive creative family extends an invitation to listeners, drawing them into an ecstatic sense of belonging and togetherness.
HUMANiSE is her first studio album since 2022’s Baby, We’re Ascending and comes after her acclaimed DJ-Kicks mix in 2023, described by Resident Advisor as “a thrillingly eclectic journey through sound.” That same year, she also released “Lights Out” with Fred again.. and Romy, cementing her place at the forefront of electronic music.
Beyond the studio, HAAi is celebrated for her dynamic, tempo-shifting DJ sets. In 2024 alone, she performed more than 100 shows across five continents, from Glastonbury, Sonar, and EDC Las Vegas to intimate sets at Japan’s Rainbow Disco Club, Berlin’s RSO, and Paris’ Rex Club (where she held a year-long residency). Along the way, she shared decks with the likes of KI/KI, Jennifer Cardini, The Blessed Madonna, and Solomun.
That same year, she also launched UNiSON, her community-driven party series designed to spotlight rising talent and foster an inclusive, forward-thinking club culture.
