Current Junior Calypso Monarch Records a Calypso Rose Original
Nataki Thompson, reigning Junior Calypso Monarch of Trinidad & Tobago, has just recorded an original song penned by the legendary McCartha Sandy Lewis, better known as Calypso Rose. listen to the song here: "Mas In Tobago."
The track was expertly produced and mixed by Romano "OneDread" de Souza, with musical arrangement by Carol Hodge, background vocals by Keith "Designer" Prescott, guitars by Joseph "Joey" Rivers, and mastering by Pierre Salandy.
Calypso Rose offered the song as a heartfelt gift to Nataki, saying, "No contract, this is from my heart. Keep Tobago going. You now come like my little baby daughter. You are stepping into Mama Calypso Rose's shoes. Win the Monarch, win the road march!"
A Rising Star's Journey
Nataki's artistic journey began in 2015 when she performed at a family event, sparking her passion for the arts. Since then, she has refined her skills as a member of the Zanté Dance Group, later becoming a lead dancer with Rhythmic Vibrations. Her talents extend beyond dance into theater and music, with standout performances in competitions such as the Tobago Day Song Competition (2022) and the Trinidad and Tobago Biennial Music Festival (2020).
Hailing from Mt. St. George, Tobago, Nataki possesses an extraordinary gift for dance and a powerful singing voice, which has captivated audiences across various events and competitions. Her relentless dedication has led to significant achievements, including leading performances in the Prime Minister's Best Village Tobago Qualifiers and appearances at prestigious events like Dimanche Gras, Music Festival, and Best Village.
Making History
In 2024, Nataki made history as the first Tobagonian in 37 years to win the National and Tobago Junior Calypso Monarch titles, cementing her status as one of the brightest young talents in the country's performing arts scene.
