Bishop Nehru releases, "Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts."

Bishop Nehru has released “Too Lost,” a dark new cut from upcoming LP Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts. Delayed due to managerial disputed, the album is now slated for release on May 8th. On "Too Lost," Bishop teams up with DJ Premier for one of his most lyrically mature tracks to date. One of the final tracks to be written for the LP, the track explores the multiple conversations taking place inside Bishop’s subconscious, the thoughts, fears, and insecurities of an artist with immense ambition. The FADER premiered the "vibrant" video yesterday, ushering in a new era of narrative songwriting from the prolific New York emcee. 23-year-old Bishop Nehru is one of hip-hop’s most intriguing and prolific wunderkinds in recent memory. He received praise from Nas, Kendrick Lamar, and DOOM as soon as he stepped onto the scene as a teenager. Now, with this career-defining new LP, Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts, he is ready to take a seat next to the luminaries that have been championing him for so long. “I’ve become way more comfortable making music, more confident than ever before in how I present my music,” he says. “Now, nobody is better than me.” Due for independent release on May 8th, Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts sees Bishop take the reins as lead producer. He enlists long-time collaborator DOOM on album highlight "meathead," as well as DJ Premier on "Too Lost." Bishop is eager to finally share the album, which was originally slated for a November release. “I came up with this project when I was in 8th grade and it’s been finished for almost a year now, so I just can’t wait for everyone to hear this,” he says. The experience and acclaim he’s gained over the past decade have gifted him with the confidence and capability to fully realize the album that he’s always wanted to record. Divided into two acts—‘The Abyss’ and ‘The Escape’ — Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts is Bishop’s most ambitious, introspective, and purposeful project to date and the culmination of ten years of personal and artistic growth. ‘The Abyss’ narrates the darker side of Bishop’s mind and life. Conversely, ‘The Escape’ features some of Bishop’s most upbeat tracks lyrically, as he leaves his darker thoughts behind. “I came up with the title for this record before I’d even started making music,” says Bishop. “‘My Disregarded Thoughts’ was originally planned as the title of my first ever mixtape, but that never happened—the reason was, I wanted the project to be as eccentric as possible, but I needed to be in an artistically comfortable place to create that. Now, I’m finally in that place, ten years later.” Bishop remains grounded in classic boom-bap, astral jazz, spaced-out funk, and the sample-heavy beats of Dilla and Madib—whilst showcasing new and previously unexplored facets of his singular creative vision, spearheaded by his renewed focus on lyrical storytelling. Rather than taking inspiration from other genre contemporaries, Bishop looks back to the music of the past (including Incubus and Black Sabbath’s Planet Caravan) to create a confident, dexterous, and unique sonic landscape. The album will accompany a UK & European tour, with US dates to be announced soon. Bishop is far from satisfied: “I wanna be playing stadiums, but even then, I won’t be content. I don’t think I’ll ever be content.” Bishop’s hunger is only matched by his raw talent, and on Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts, he’s ready to take the mantle as New York’s greatest contemporary rapper, as so many have prophesied.
