Esperanza Spalding completes Exposure in 77 hours.

Around the latter part of July 2017, jazz fans of Ms. Spalding were greeted with a video clip about her new project that would be entitled, “Exposure.” In the video, she claimed that on September 12th, she along with some musicians will enter into a recording studio with nothing prepared and she will compose, arrange and record a ten song album for her fans to view on FaceBook-live in 77 hours. Only 7,777 copies of this project would be available. On her website she had this comment - "I foresee that creating before a live audience will add excitement and extra inspiration energy. Knowing someone is watching and listening to what you're making seems to conjure up a sort of "can't fail" energy, the necessity to keep going because it's live draws up another depth of creative facility that can't be reached when you know you can try again tomorrow." Ms. Spalding went on to say - “Having such limited time to write and record will also force us to rely on improvisation and first instinct. Not allowing us time to judge, second guess, question, or alter the initial hits of inspiration that drive the creation of each song. That means that the audience will get a record of the most potent, charged, fresh-from-the ethers-compositional, musical and lyrical content. Of course, they will be formed into songs, but they'll carry the charge of the immediate, of the innately inspired artists co-creating in the room throughout the 3-day process.” At Muzilog we’re happy to be part of the multitude of individuals that saw "Exposure,” come to fruition in real time. Another note is that all preorders have been sold out. However, you can take a look at our highlights video and see some of the scenes, also, stay tuned to for more updates about “Exposure.”
