Delaware Music Network & MUZILOG Presents…
Aniya Jazz is a contemporary jazz group. The band is comprised of instrumentalists Delbert Boyer on guitar, Jason Coleman on drums, Monty Pollard keys, Alvin Alexander on Saxophone and Tyrone Blandford on bass guitar. The group has produced four original jazz CDs in the last 10 years.
Aniya Jazz has performed at local jazz venues in Wilmington, Delaware and tri-state area including Clifford Brown Jazz Festival for three straight years.
Tragically, Aniya Jazz lost two of their members in 2018, Ron Sutton, saxophonist and Philip Joesph, vocalist. The group has vowed to carry on and dedicate every performance for our brothers ! RIP Ron and Phil!
ANIYA JAZZ! A SOUND SO SWEET TO THE EAR AND A JOY FOR THE SOUL!
By Nadira Norjahan
My first impression of April’s Delaware Music Network music feature Aniya Jazz was when I saw them perform two years ago with Philip Joseph as their lead vocalist (who has since passed away. Rest well, brother Phil). Although Philip was as sweet a crooner as Luther Vandross, Aniya Jazz was not lost in the background. In fact, they made for more of a sweet confectionary compliment like whipped cream icing on strawberry shortcake!
Yup, I said that! (Get to know me. I’m a bit colorful and dramatic). If you don’t believe me, you can check them out on YouTube and Facebook. I had the privilege to speak with the band’s leader, Delbert Boyer. Click on the interview below to check it out!
Join us from the Delaware and surrounding area for what is shaping up to be the best Open Mic/Jam & Showcase in town! Our next show will be on April 17th at Celebrations on Market in Wilmington, Delaware.
